I received my undergraduate degree in Sociology from the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) and my Masters in Social Work/Social Welfare at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).  I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and psychotherapist with a private practice in the San Fernando Valley.  I have over ten years of experience working with children, teens, adults, and older adults in outpatient community mental health programs and in private practice, providing individual and family therapy.  I am passionate about helping others discover treasures of truth within themselves and see myself as an advocate promoting the resilience and self-determination of my clients.

I began my social work career as a client advocate at an emergency shelter for survivors of domestic violence, where I did crisis intervention with families during critical times of significant transition and vulnerability.  I also gained valuable experience providing psychotherapy to the homeless population in the Skid Row community of downtown LA.  I received the majority of my clinical experience and training at NCJW/LA, a community mental health facility near West Hollywood, where I worked with clients from all over Los Angeles on a broad range of presenting issues.  While at the agency, I also provided clinical supervision and training to graduate students from UCLA, USC and CSUN.

I am a native Spanish speaker and have spent time working and living in Buenos Aires, Argentina.  My personal background offers me a unique lens from which to understand the social and cultural influences on our personal lives.  I bring this perspective into my work with every client.  I draw primarily from psychodynamic, relational, humanistic, and attachment theories to navigate the human experience and help people through their life challenges.  However, I have learned that there is no one technique or theory that fits every individual’s situation, and when appropriate I also integrate CBT interventions, mindfulness-based practices, and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to enhance my work with clients.  As a trained EMDR therapist, I assist clients in gaining relief from trauma and other painful or highly charged memories, experiences, and relationships.

I am a current member of the National Association of Social Workers.
